Toronto Maple Leafs Recall Nazem Kadri and Ryan Hamilton

The Toronto Maple Leafs will have two sets of fresh legs when they face the Devils in New Jersey Friday evening. Nazem Kadri and Ryan Hamilton have been called up from the Toronto Marlies of the AHL. The two youngsters will replace rookie Matt Frattin (lower-body) and Clarke MacArthur (upper-body) who are both out of the line-up with day-to-day injuries.

Kadri has posted 13 goals and 19 assist with the Marlies this season. While collection six points in 19 games with his time with the Maple Leafs this year. Even though this is an emergency replacement move, Brian Burke may in fact be showcasing his former first overall pick in an attempt to up Kadri’s trade value. I personally hope Kadri can at least showcase something that could get Toronto excited for next season.

As for the captain of the Marlies, Hamilton has recorded 23 goals and 23 assist over 65 games this season. When Hamilton takes the ice Friday night, this will be his first National Hockey League game of his career. Hamilton was acquired from the Minnesota Wild on January 21st, 2009 in exchange for Robbie Earl.

Looking ahead, Toronto play five of their last 7 games at the Air Canada Centre where they will have, the New York Rangers, Carolina Hurricanes, Philadelphia Flyers, Buffalo Sabres and Tampa Bay Lightning.

My question to you is should Brian Burke trade Kadri in the off-season or see what the 2012/13 season brings for Nazem?

A trade would be the best thing for Kadri. It should give him a place with a team that has a need for his style & skills which are very good. It was a bad pick for him by the leafs in the first place but then that’s nothing new for the leaf mismanagement.
