From an up and down year with injuries, the St. Louis Blues are going to have Alex Steen and Kris Russell in the lineup tonight. The line combos were announced earlier today, but it looks like new ones are going to have to be made up to make room for Steen.
The Blues are going to look to get back to their winning ways tonight against a Phoenix Coyotes team that is in the middle of the playoff hunt. They are in desperate need of a win tonight and would love to take down the league leading Blues. Shane Doan will be out tonight as he is serving his 3 game suspension. Kyle Chipchura is on IR and Taylor Pyatt and Adrian Aucoin missed Saturdays game against the Sharks.
Elliot will be the starting goalie tonight for the Blues. Even though he has been rock solid, the team seems to forget how to score when he is in net. The Blues have not scored in over 90 minutes of playing time with Elliot in net. Hopefully with Steen back in, this will change. Andy McDonald should be back before the playoffs, and Matt D’agostini still has no set return date (but neither did Steen).
Keys to tonights game:
- Keep the pressure up! The Blues had great chances against the LA Kings but couldn’t bury any goals. The pressure needs to stay high for all 60+ minutes and chances need to be executed.
- Blues will need a physical game tonight against a team that knows how to grind their opponents down.
