Kris Allen Letang (“Tanger”) was drafted by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft in the third round (62nd overall).  At the time he was selected in the draft, Letang had been playing for the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) for three seasons with the Val-d’Or Foreurs.

2010

The Penguins were the defending Stanley Cup Champions and the #4 seed while Ottawa was the #5 seed in the Eastern Conference.  This was the third time in four years that these two teams met in the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals. 

The Pens moved onto the second round matching up with #8 seed, the Montreal Canadiens and eventually lost the series to the Habs and knocked off of the road to the Stanley Cup Final in seven games (3 games to 4).

1996

  • Ken Wregget stopped Washington CapitalsJoe Juneau on a penalty shot in overtime (it was the first penalty shot ever awarded in overtime of the playoffs) and Petr Nedved scored in fourth overtime (79:15 of overtime) to give Penguins a 3-2 win in Game 4 of Division Semifinals
