Pavel Datsyuk Edges Closer To NHL 13 Cover Athlete
There is usually much ado about nothing when the cover athlete is announced annually for the popular National Football League franchise, Madden. There is supposedly a curse on each player who graces the cover, and it has come to the point where fan bases will vote against their favorite players to ensure they go curse-less. Good thing we don’t have anything like that in the National Hockey League.
Pavel Datsyuk of the Detroit Red Wings has made it to the quarterfinals of the NHL 13 cover vote, having ousted T.J. Oshie of the St. Louis Blues in Round 1. Datsyuk is currently up against John Tavares of the New York Islanders for one of the last two spots in the semifinals. Please get out and vote for Pavel. I, along with the rest of the Red Wings fans wherever dispersed around the world, would love nothing more than for number 13′s picture all over GameStop, and other video game retailers, when the game comes out sometime in September. You can vote by clicking this link, or through the Red Wings official website, or simply by Googling it.
Claude Giroux of the Philadelphia Flyers and Evgeni Malkin of the Pittsburgh Penguins have already qualified for the semifinals of this contest. Should Datsyuk get past Tavares, he will meet the winner of New York Rangers’ goaltender Henrik Lundqvist and Nashville Predators goalie Pekka Rinne.
The voting for this round (Datysuk v Tavares) closes on Wednesday, May 23. Get out and vote and send the best player in the NHL to the cover of NHL 13.
