Should Philadelphia Flyers Fans Be Happy That the Kings Won the Stanley Cup?
We have seen the Los Angeles Kings celebrate their Stanley Cup victory, but should Philadelphia Flyers be happy? Mike Richards was the captain last year, Jeff Carter was here last year as well, and Simon Gagne was here two-years ago.
It is a tough pill to swallow to for fans, Carter and Richards were the cornerstones of the franchise just this time last year. In a surprise move GM Paul Holmgren shipped the future of the team and the reaction ranged from excitement to sadness.
The move you have to say was a success for the Flyers. They had added players such as Wayne Simmonds, Jakub Voracek, and Sean Couturier who should be a strong base to build around.
I personally am happy for Carts and Richie, they did nothing bad to leave Philly. They didn’t refuse to stay here, in fact they signed contracts to stay here for the rest of their career. They were nothing but gracious when they left the City of Brotherly Love. The only knock against them was that they drank too much and partied too much, but that speculation more than anything.
Do not be mad at Carter and Richards, if you must be mad at someone choose Holmgren. As I stated he was was the one who shipped them away. I think the Flyers Nation should happy that these guys won the Cup.
With the players the Flyers received in return for these two, do not be surprised if the Flyers are lifting a Cup of their own sometime soon.
