Get the calendars ready–the Boston Bruins have announced the schedules for preseason games and training camps.
Rookie camp will open on September 14 at Ristuccia Arena. Exactly a week later, training camp opens up for all non-rookies at the same location.
The preseason schedule sees the Bruins meeting four different teams: the Washington Capitals, Buffalo Sabres, Winnipeg Jets and Montreal Canadiens. They will play each team except the Canadiens twice.
The Bruins will open their preseason schedule on September 25 against the Capitals at Washington’s Verizon Center. On September 26, they will meet the Sabres at the First Niagara Center. Then on September 29, they head to Saskatoon, Saskatchewan to take on the Jets and then to Manitoba the next day for the second part of a back-to-back against the Jets at the MTS Centre. On October 3, they have their first home game of the preseason against the Capitals, followed by a TD Garden meeting with the Sabres on October 5. Finally, it’s off to the Bell Centre to face the Habs on October 6.
Note that all games start at 7 p.m. Eastern but the Saskatoon game, which starts at 9 p.m. Eastern, and the Winnipeg game, which starts at 8 p.m. Eastern.
These preseason games are a good chance for the coaching staff to try out new guys and guys who usually play in Providence, perhaps to see if they fit on the Boston squad or if they’re not ready just yet. Perhaps Dougie Hamilton, for example, could see a lot of time playing in this preseason schedule.
More camp information, camp rosters and full practice schedules will be released at a later date.
