Some thoughts:

  • Just like last season, the Bruins open with a game against the Philadelphia Flyers, except now the Flyers are the home team and there’s no Stanley Cup banner to raise, of course. This game will be on NBC Sports Network.
  • In fact, the Bruins play their first three games on the road and open at home against the Montreal Canadiens on October 18, which begins a six-game home stand.
  • The Toronto Maple Leafs, a team the Bruins won all six games against last season, are the Bruins’ opponents on November 1, December 8, January 21, February 12, March 23 and March 25.
  • There is a six-game home stand in November and a seven-game home stand in December.
  • The Bruins have another Black Friday game on November 23 against the New York Rangers. It begins at 1 p.m.
  • The Los Angeles Kings come to Boston on December 17 for a battle of the two most recent Stanley Cup champions.
  • The last game before Christmas is a 1 p.m. game against the Washington Capitals on December 22. Then the Bruins pick things up on the day after Christmas with a 7 p.m. game against the Ottawa Senators.
  • Again the Bruins play on New Year’s Eve, this time against the Calgary Flames in Alberta starting at 9 p.m. Eastern. That game is part of a three-game road trip to Western Canada.
  • The All-Star Game break is January 24 to 28. The All-Star Game will be held in Columbus.
  • There’s a 7-game-long road trip in February with stops in Raleigh, Chicago, Nashville, Tampa, Sunrise, Raleigh again and Montreal.
  • Again the Bruins close out the regular season against the Buffalo Sabres, though not at home this time. The last home game is April 11 against the New York Islanders.
  • All four rematches with the Capitals will be November 2, December 22, March 10 and March 16.
  • Games that start later: December 5 at Winnipeg (8 p.m.), December 29 at Vancouver (10 p.m.), December 31 at Calgary (9 p.m.), January 2 at Edmonton (10 p.m.), January 31 at San Jose (10:30 p.m.), February 2 at Phoenix (8 p.m.), February 4 at Colorado (9 p.m.), February 18 at Nashville (6 p.m.), February 24 at Florida (6 p.m.), March 19 at Winnipeg (8 p.m.).
  • Matinee games (all start at 1 p.m.): November 23 vs. New York Rangers, December 22 vs. Washington, January 5 vs. Ottawa, January 12 vs. Chicago, January 21 vs. Toronto, March 2 vs. Tampa Bay, March 9 vs. Philadelphia, March 16 vs. Washington, March 30 vs. Philadelphia.
