Claude Giroux Wins the NHL 13 Cover; Plus the Philadelphia Flyers Regular Season Schedule is Released
After two months of voting Philadelphia Flyers got their wish when Claude Giroux was named the cover man for EA Sports NHL 13.
“It’s a great honor. Obviously it’s not something you think of,” said Giroux shortly after the announcement. “It’s all about the fans pretty much; the support of my family; my hometown and obviously the Flyers fans all over the world. I think I’m pretty lucky to actually win this.”
He will be the second Flyers player on the cover since Eric Lindros was on the cover of NHL 99, which to me is one the best games they made.
Looking at the schedule now the Flyers will open against the Boston Bruins, no I’m not looking at the wrong schedule. The Flyers will open this season on against the Bruins as well, this time the Flyers will be the home team. That game is on October 11, Philly will conclude their season at home against the New York Rangers. That is a game that could have big playoff implications on the line.
The Flyers will play a home-and-home series this season against three Western Conference teams – the Chicago Blackhawks, the Minnesota Wild and the San Jose Sharks. The Anaheim Ducks, Calgary Flames, Colorado Avalanche, Dallas Stars, Detroit Red Wings and Edmonton Oilers will all visit the Wells Fargo Center this season, and the Flyers will pay one-way visits to Columbus Blue Jackets, Los Angeles Kings, Nashville Predators, Phoenix Coyotes, St. Louis Blues and Vancouver Canucks.
The Philadelphia Flyers end the season on a three-game home stand against the Penguins, Ottawa Senators, and the Rangers.
