Minnesota Wild Releases 2012-2013 Schedule

By Matt Farland

The Minnesota Wild has finally released its schedule for the 2012-2013 regular season.  It will be the second year in a row that the team will open its season at the Xcel Energy Center, and the third in which it will be the home team (2010-2011 in Helsinki, Finland).

Minnesota will play each team in the Northwest Division six times (three at home, three on the road).  They will also play every team in the Central and Pacific divisions four times (two at home, two on the road).  This may be good news for the team, as these two divisions were the only two in all of the NHL at the Wild had a winning record against last season.

Beyond that, it appears that the early season schedule may be even more important for the team than usual, as Minnesota will play five of its last seven games on the road in a stretch that includes four playoff teams from 2011-2012.

Those of you that missed the memo and are looking for a January 1st Winter Classic match-up with the Dallas Stars at Target Field-we weep with you.
