Henrik Lundqvist wins the Vezina Trophy
I am sure that Henrik Lundqvist would much rather be hoisting the Stanley Cup but he has a nice piece of hardware to take home. Lundqvist was named the 2011/2012 top goalie in the league. It was a much deserved award for the swede. Lundqvist and the New York Rangers had a great season, they fell a little short as they lost in the Eastern Conference finals. They are on the right track though.
Lundqvist had his best season and he was properly awarded for it. He does have a good defensive system in front of him that was really good this year. He was also really good this year too though. He is always good but he did raise his game this year. The Rangers will take this for now and then try and make it to the Stanley Cup Finals next year.
The New York Rangers will have a tough schedule to begin next year and a lot of road games. Madison Square Garden is being transformed and the Rangers won’t have their home opener until November first. The Rangers need to hang in there early and then take off after that. They would love to be one of the top seeds again and make it all the way to the finals and maybe even win the Stanley Cup. Can the Rangers take that next step?? If Lundqvist keeps it up then certainly they can. They would like to add a scorer in the off season. I think the Rangers will get a Rick Nash or maybe one of the other scorers out there. If they do they could be the favorites next year. The off season just began though and there is a long way to go.
