First off, I’d like to introduce myself to the reading audience of RantSports.com. My name is Benjamin Woodward. For as long as I can remember, I’ve been extraordinarily obsessed with the world of sports, ice hockey in particular. Back in the fall of 2010, I began to turn that obsession into writing. Amidst what would become one of the most magical seasons in Boston hockey history, I created my own blog as an outlet for all of my thoughts on the Bruins. In August of 2011, I was able to join BD Gallof and his wonderful staff of writers over at HockeyIndependent.com and was promoted to Featured Columnist after just one month of contribution.
Throughout the 2011-12 season, I was lucky enough to be credentialed for each Boston Bruins home game played at the TD Garden. In April, I accompanied the team to our nation’s capital to cover their Eastern Conference Quarterfinal match-up against the Washington Capitals.
I have some roots in the Raleigh, North Carolina area and have followed the Hurricanes quite closely over the past few seasons. So when Randy Holt offered me the chance to write about the ‘Canes for Rant Sports, I happily accepted the invitation.
Unfortunately folks, life does tend to get in the way of things sometimes, so I’ve decided not to set a weekly quota on my articles. However, I can promise you that I will do my best to keep you all informed on all things Hurricanes, all season long. Also, I plan to regularly post links to my coverage of the Boston Bruins for your reading pleasure.
In addition to covering the ‘Canes, I will dabble in the pool of football coverage (college and pros), as well as other teams around the NHL.
