Congratulations to Brittany Carnegie and Milan Lucic

The contingency of fathers among the Boston Bruins is about to increase by one: Milan Lucic is going to be a father.

The happy news was posted on the Twitter account of his fiancee, Brittany Carnegie. Her account is here, and while it is protected, here is a screencapture of the tweet and an ultrasound:

The pregnancy isn’t far enough along yet for the expectant parents to know the sex–it looks to be just a few months–but Carnegie is, of course, thrilled at the news. She’s been replying to well-wishers steadily since tweeting the announcement. She’s even gamely playing along with someone pretending to be Marshall, Tyler Seguin‘s dog, inquiring as to who the baby’s godfather will be.

Last month, Carnegie announced her engagement, also via Twitter. Since then, the couple has had an engagement party and she hinted at where their wedding might be by joking that Lucic will get good use of a gag gift, the infamous green revealing bathing suit from the movie “Borat,” in the Bahamas.

Lucic’s teammates will probably be on hand to provide lots of advice about the joys of fatherhood. Among the fathers on the Bruins’ roster are Zdeno Chara, Andrew Ference, Nathan Horton, Chris Kelly, Rich Peverley, Marc Savard, Dennis Seidenberg and, if we’re counting Bruins who are taking a year off, Tim Thomas. Retired Bruin and father Mark Recchi might also be able to provide some pointers.

Congratulations to the mother and father to be! I’m sure we’ll see the baby Lucic attired in black and gold onesies before long.
