HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO FORMER
PITTSBURGH PENGUINS WINGER
(AND CURRENT CAROLINA HURRICANE)
(he turns 28 today)
Tim Wallace played collegiate hockey for four years at the University of Notre Dame (CCHA) from 2002-2006. He was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Pittsburgh Penguins at the end of his college career in 2006 after attending a tryout camp. He mainly played for Pittsburgh’s AHL affiliate in Wilkes-Barre Scranton through the 2010-11 season and then signed a one-year, two-way deal with the New York Islanders.
Last season in February 2012 after playing only 31 games for them, the Islanders placed Wallace on waivers and was then claimed by the Tampa Bay Lightning and playing only 18 games for them. He eventually signed with the Carolina Hurricanes this past off-season in July 2012.
- defenseman Dick Tarnstrom was claimed off waivers by the Pittsburgh Penguins from the New York Islanders
