The NHL may have locked out it’s players and cancelled some of it’s preseason games already, but that doesn’t mean you can’t see or listen to hockey in South Florida. Tonight the Saint John Sea Dogs face off in their home opener against Acadie-Bathurst Titan at 6:00PM EST. Last season the Sea Dogs finished with a record of 50-15-3 and Florida Panthers prospect Jonathan Huberdeau finished with 30G, 42A, 72P in just 37GP, a season shortened due to him attending Panthers training camp and preseason as well as injuries.

Huberdeau averaged nearly 2 points per game last season and was looking to win back to back Memorial Cup Championships with the Sea Dogs, but fell short. He was almost guaranteed a spot on the Panthers roster this season but with the NHL locked out he was returned to the Sea Dogs his fourth season with the team. Based on his ability to score over the past two seasons, you have to be excited to see how he does this year if he can continue where he left off last year and stays healthy.

Games can be heard at www.news889.com by clicking the “Listen Live” button at the top of the website. You can also follow along on twitter at @SeaDogsHockey for game updates if you’re not able to listen. There’s plenty of good hockey still available, whether you’re able to attend the games or not, they’re so exciting to just listen to it’s hard to not become a fan.

The ice is also currently going down for the San Antonio Rampage who will be starting training camp soon and look to continue their success from last season into the playoffs another year. Feel free to follow them at @SARampage for updates on training camp, preseason and the start of the 2012-2013 season. Panther Prospects such as Jacob Markstrom, Quinton Howden, Drew Shore and Colby Robak all return and look for big seasons in San Antonio.
