On This Date in Pittsburgh Penguins History (September 20) / Penguins Trivia
- Pennsylvania Governor Ed Rendell and Allegheny County Chief Executive Dan Onorato announced that the Pittsburgh Penguins have formally signed a 30-year lease for Pittsburgh’s new arena
- right wing free agent Dennis Bonvie signed with the Pittsburgh Penguins
Currently, Bonvie is a professional scout for the Chicago Blackhawks. He is most known for being one of the most penalized players with 4,804 penalty minutes. Obviously a very physical player and an enforcer for many NHL but for a majority of AHL teams such as the Wilkes-Barre Scranton Baby Penguins. In fact, the WBS Baby Penguins home ice at the Mohegan Sun Arena was often called “the House that Bonvie built” during his time playing for Pittsburgh’s AHL affiliate.
- the Penguins traded Ron Schock to the Buffalo Sabres in exchange for Brian Spencer
