Evgeni Malkin Turns in Another Three Point Performance in Magnitogorsk Blowout

US PRESSWIRE

Pittsburgh Penguins center Evgeni Malkin scored his first goal of the season and added two more assists as his Metallurg Magnitogorsk stomped HC Lev Praha 6-1 in another KHL contest on Thursday.

Malkin first assisted on Denis Platonov‘s game-opening goal less than six minutes into the game. Former Penguins defenseman Alexandre Picard tied the game a few minutes later and the teams went into the first intermission at a 1-1 draw.

Metallurg’s Sergei Mozyakin scored a power play marker 3:21 into the second period with assists going to Malkin and Sergei Gonchar.

They would go on to score four more unanswered goals in the period, with Malkin notching the last one with assists from Platonov and Mozyakin, ironically enough.

Malkin has now recorded back-to-back three-point games and has a goal and seven points in four KHL contests.

His six assists tie him for sixth in the KHL, though he’s the only player in the top 16 to have played less than eight games.

Malkin’s next game is scheduled for 15:00 MSK on Saturday, 7 AM EST.
