Karl Stewart currently plays in Europe for the Straubing Tigers of the DEL (Deutsche Eishockey Liga or German Ice Hockey League).
He was an undrafted player who eventually signed as a free agent with the Atlanta Thrashers in September 2001 and, in August 2006, was traded along with a second round draft pick to the Anaheim Ducks from whom he was claimed off waivers by the Penguins. Only after a month and three games with Pittsburgh, he was placed on waivers and claimed again by the Chicago Blackhawks.
