Florida Panthers Duo To Drop Opening Ceremony Puck At UM Hockey Games

The University of Miami mens hockey team will have some special guests at upcoming home games against Florida Gulf Coast University and Duke University. On Sunday September 21st at Kendall Ice Arena Kris Versteeg will drop the opening ceremony puck as UM takes on FGCU starting at 4:00PM. Ed Jovanovski will be in attendance Saturday October 26th to drop the opening puck as UM takes on Duke, game starting at 8:30PM.

UM is coming off two impressive wins to start their season this past weekend where they won 16-3 and 11-3 respectively against Embry-Riddle. Their record of 2-0 moved them to 19-0 in the teams history, dating back to last season (their first) in which they went undefeated 17-0.

With the NHL lockout ongoing the two Florida Panthers will come out to support local hockey in the area, along with keeping the fans active until the NHL resumes play. Redline Lady Panther Danielle will also be on hand October 21st to drop the opening puck along with Kris Verteeg, while Lady Panther Kyara will attend the October 26th game with Ed Jovanovski. Be sure to arrive early as pre-game warm ups will take place and starters will be announced beforehand. This upcoming weekend (October 5th and 6th) UM will be taking on Florida Atlantic University, starting at 8:30PM at Kendall Ice Arena, all games are free admission and open to public.

Jason Mizrachi, UM’s band announcer will also be the guest of honor Friday October 12th as they take on the Junior Blades at 8:30PM at Kendall Ice Arena.
