Alexandre Bolduc was named captain of the Portland Pirates just over two weeks ago. Right now, he is the hottest player on the team.
Bolduc scored his 6th goal of the season in Saturday night’s 4-2 win over the Binghamton Senators. It was Bolduc’s 6th goal in his last five games. Bolduc has scored at least one goal in each of the previous five games. Bolduc, 27, has flourished in his second season with the Pirates. In six games, Bolduc has scored six goals and 10 points while having a +3 rating. As of Saturday night, Bolduc is tied for the AHL lead in both goals and points. Last season, Bolduc played 23 games with Portland scoring three goals and 15 points.
Bolduc has never scored more than 18 goals and 37 points in a season as a professional. Through six games, Bolduc is on pace for 72 goals and 120 points. While those numbers are unrealistic, Bolduc could be on his way toward a career year in Portland. Captain Bolduc has led the way for an offensively gifted Portland team that has scored an average of nearly five goals per game this season.
Bolduc played two games with the Phoenix Coyotes last season but did not record a point. Bolduc has played 48 career NHL games between Phoenix and Vancouver and has recorded two goals and six points.
The next game for the Pirates is Sunday at noon (Arizona time) against the Springfield Falcons.
