Nail Yakupov is starting to heat up in the KHL for his home club Nizhnekamsk Neftekhimik. With a 2 goal and 1 assist performance he put up today, he now has 10 goals and 14 points in 13 games this season. Nail Yakupov’s recent goal output has shown that there is little doubt he is ready to make his NHL debut once the lockout is done with.
Nail Yakupov’s biggest facet of his game is his ability to find soft spots in the defense an unleash his wicked shot. As shown by the ten goals early on, he has little problems finding offense when things are going well. Nail Yakupov should be become a nice complement to other scoring stars Taylor Hall, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Jordan Eberle, as long as the coaching staff finds creative ways to use them all properly. Get them the looks/touches they’ll need in order to make them effective and help the team find wins.
Once the season starts, the Edmonton Oilers are going to feature a lot of youth, moreso than they have done in the past. The Oilers may be a team filled with a lot of mistakes due to inexperience, but this team likely will be as exciting to watch as any team in the NHL. Will all of this lead directly to wins? Likely, not right away. There is still some growing to do and some learning to be done, not to mention some holes on the roster to still be filled. But the potential for the “WOW” factor is definitely there. I don’t think there is fanbase in the NHL more impatient for the lockout to end than the Oilers fans. There will be a lot of talent to display once they hit the ice.
