AHL Preview: WBS Penguins Vs. Hershey Bears

The Hershey Bears (Washington Capitals) take on their division rival tonight, facing off against the Wilkes-Barre Scranton Penguins (Pittsburgh Penguins) at Mohegan Sun Arena in Wilkes-Barre. Tonight is the second contest between the two clubs this season, with the two teams recently playing in Hershey on October 28th. Hershey holds a 67-59-11 all time advantage over Wilkes-Barre Scranton.

Hershey won the last game between these two clubs on the 28th of October, escaping with a 3-2 victory over the Penguins. Bears’ forwards Mike Carman, Ryan Stoa and Zach Hamill are registered goals for Hershey. Bears goalie, Dany Sabourin played strong in net, allowing only two shots past him on the night. Eric Tangradi and Adam Payerl netted markers for Wilkes-Barre Scranton.

The Penguins recently played this Wednesday, defeating the Binghamton Senators in a shootout. Wilkes-Barre Scranton goalie, Jeff Zatkoff played phenomenal in net for the Penguins, padding aside 32 shots in regulation and overtime in their 1-0 win. Tom Kuhnhackl recorded the winning goal, sending Penguins’ fans home happy with his shootout winning goal.

Tonight is Hershey’s final game of a three game road trip before they return home to Giant Center. Hershey recently fell to the Bridgeport Sound Tigers last Saturday, but Matt Clackson and Boyd Kane contributed goals in the Bears loss. Hershey goalie, Braden Holtby recorded 39 saves on 42 shots in an outstanding performance in net.

Bears’ forward, Mattias Sjogren participated in Hershey’s practice on Thursday and is available for this weekend. According to Tim Leone of the Patriot News, Braden Holtby will start in net.
