Young Montreal Canadiens defenseman P.K. Subban has to find some way to occupy his time during the NHL lockout. Being that–at least at this time–he has decided against playing in Europe. He’s still in Canada, spinning his wheels and trying out new things. Previously, he created a video resume and tried his hand at doing the weather for CTV Montreal.

Now he’s putting on a chef’s white jacket and giving the art of pizza-making a go at one of Canada’s ubiquitous Boston Pizza locations. Yes, Boston Pizza, the same chain that jokingly temporarily changed their name twice during the 2011 Stanley Cup Playoffs, once to Montreal Pizza and then to Vancouver Pizza, so as not to look like they were supporting the Boston Bruins.

In the kitchen, he uses his hockey gloves and stick to handle pizzas fresh out of the oven, dishing them down the counter as if they were a sweet pass to a Habs teammate. Then he serves beers to two customers, but gives preferential treatment: the man dressed in a Montreal jersey gets a nice beer, but the man in a Toronto Maple Leafs jersey has some of the foamy head spilled in front of him.

Subban also tops a pizza with pepperoni in the shape of the Habs’ logo and then uses his rather innovative hockey stick and gloves combo to serve it to hungry customers before draping a towel over his shoulders and drenching his face in water.

This doesn’t impress his ‘boss,’ who admits to the camera that he’s probably going to let Subban go and asks if he can be traded somehow.

This Boston Pizza tryout was facilitated by George Stroumboulopoulos, or just Strombo for short, the host of news talk show George Stroumboulopoulos Tonight on CBC. Depending on how much longer this lockout lasts, Strombo may need to help Subban occupy his time some more.

Meanwhile, speaking of people with ‘strombo’ in their Twitter handles, the CanucksRoberto Luongo has resorted to livetweeting himself getting a pedicure. This is not a joke.
