Penguins coach Bob Johnson passed away at the age 0f 60 at his home in Colorado Springs, Colorado after a battle with brain cancer

Rick Kehoe scored three goals against Vancouver Canucks goalie, Richard Brodeur, earning his fourth hat trick with Pittsburgh

the Pittsburgh Pirates beat the Boston Bruins by a score of 2-1 for their first NHL game
