The Hershey Bears (Washington Capitals) return home tonight to face the Bridgeport Sound Tigers (New York Islanders) in their first of two games this weekend. Hershey holds a 30-23-8 all-time record against Bridgeport and tonight marks the 62nd matchup between these two Eastern conference teams. The two clubs will play a total of four times this season with the next game schedule for Jan. 8 in Bridgeport, Conn.
Hershey recently played on Wednesday and defeated the Norfolk Admirals (Tampa Bay Lightning) 5-2. The Bears outshot their opponent for only their second time in the entire season and Jon DiSalvatore recorded two goals for Hershey, following his 500th career AHL point last Sunday. The Hershey penalty kill stopped all three Norfolk power plays and Bears goalie Braden Holtby notched 24 saves on the night. Patrick McNeill, Garrett Mitchell and T.J. Syner also contributed goals for the Chocolate and White.
The Sound Tigers recently lost to the Binghamton Senators (Ottawa Senators) last Saturday night with their offense only managing to register one goal. Forward Brandon Defazio scored the only goal for Bridgeport, who were shut down by Senators goalie Robin Lehner.
The Bears’ Garrett Stafford and Ryan Stoa are both expected to remain out of the lineup this weekend due to injury.
Following tonight’s game, Hershey returns to Giant Center Saturday night to take on the Admirals again.
