Philadelphia Flyers’ Daniel Briere Continues Success Overseas
Let’s just face the facts: the NHL Lockout will most likely continue for a little while. Though there may not be any professional hockey in Philadelphia just yet, at least there is a bright sign for the Philadelphia Flyers. That’s right, Daniel Briere is lighting up the DEL with Eisbären Berlin.
So far throughout 12 games, Briere has played phenomenally. He has recorded 21 points in those games and 17 of those 21 have been helpers on goals. This success is good news for Flyers fans everywhere because it shows Briere can mesh perfectly with any line he is on, no matter what.
Briere and teammate Cluade Giroux signed with Eisbären at the beginning of the lockout. Both players were happy to play with each other in the DEL. Most importantly, the Flyers were happy that Briere and Giroux were playing together. The continued success of these two players could have an influence on the line combinations when the 2012-2013 NHL season begins this year.
In other news, Giroux says that he is ‘really fine’. His agent, Pat Brisson, told CSN Philadelphia that Giroux is fine and is not considered concussed, though he did recently visit a neurology specialist in Marietta, Ga.
This is great news for the Flyers organization and its fan base because when the reports first broke about Giroux’s flight back to America, it was worrying.
If Giroux and Briere can continue the way they have been playing in Germany, then the Flyers could find themselves at the top of the Eastern Conference and maybe even the entire NHL.
