Anaheim Ducks: Fans Can Expect New Team Store Mid-Season

Kelvin Kuo- USA TODAY Sports

It may not be in time for the home opener tomorrow, but Anaheim Ducks‘ fans can anticipate a newly revamped team store by mid-season. The new Anaheim Ducks Team Store powered by Reebok and the new outside entertainment space has been a work in progress for owners Henry and Susan Samueli since last season.

As a Ducks’ fan, I’m content with the Honda Center as a whole — decent food and decent seats no matter where you sit — but the team store was in desperate need of remodeling.

I’ve visited different arenas across the States and, by far, the Ducks’ team store was the most pitiful. I get it. There aren’t many fans in Orange County that would happily pay usually outrageous prices for Ducks’ merchandise, but what about all the faithfuls who would drool over the chance of having more options to buy? In every other NHL team store I’ve gone, to I could’ve easily spent an hour in exploring all that they offered. Lost in a plethora of merchandise I most likely don’t need, you can bet I’ll probably find something that I’d walk out with. I’ve seen stores have ice cubes, gnomes, seat covers, slippers, earphones, iPhone covers, landline phones, shoelaces etc all of which sported their team logo.

I can’t promise that the new store “powered by Reebok” will provide us with an array of options, but I know it will be a helluva lot better than what Duck fans have had. Expect to be able to purchase a jersey before or during the game and be able to don it that same night. Also, a section of the store will be dedicated to the Ducks’ Stanley Cup win in ’07. Something I’m definitely a fan of as it’s not only a milestone for Anaheim, but also for California sports.

The alliance that the Ducks’ made with Reebok in this joint venture is huge. Reebok wouldn’t put their name on something if it wasn’t orchestrated right. I just hope fans will buy some merchandise or visit the store more often and invest in this just as the Samueli’s and Reebok did,
