Florida Panthers Get Second Win of the Season In Dramatic Fashion

It has been a rough start to the lock out shortened season for the Florida Panthers. They started out with a win against the Carolina Hurricanes, but then dropped the next five games in a row, dropping all the way to the bottom of the NHL Eastern Conference.

Thursday nights win against the Winnipeg Jets was just what the team needed to get on track as they get ready for a four-game road trip that will keep them away from their home ice until midway through the new month.

Getting a win is always nice, but the way in which Florida prevailed is especially satisfying. The Panthers offense had been struggling during their five-game losing streak, and it was no surprise that they found themselves down against the Jets late in the contest. Finally the line-ups began to click for the Panthers and they came from behind twice in the third to take the lead, putting their division rivals away by a score of 6-3.

This is the type of win a struggling team can use as a jumping point for the rest of the season. Beleaguered by poor shoots and bad luck, the team had been unable to get anything going, and then through perseverance and persistence, they were able to overcome and win in dominant fashion.

Now, with the next four games taking them away from the home ice, Florida will need to build on the excitement they got from this win. They travel north to face the Buffalo Sabers on Sunday and will be hoping to take some of this momentum with them.
