The Pittsburgh Penguins are riding high on their recent winning streak and their latest victim was the Washington Capitals who they beat by a score of 6-3.
The Penguins have definitely got their groove back and were able to dominate the Capitals through all three periods this afternoon. They were consistent and executed their game plan throughout the entire 60 minutes including the times where Washington tried to come back with a goal in response.
Goals came from a few unlikely Penguins players such as defenseman, Paul Martin who scored early in the first period, but forward Chris Kunitz was firing on all cylinders today and earned himself a hat trick within the final seconds of the game with the help of his teammates. Pittsburgh netminder, Tomas Vokoun, was another big factor in the Penguins’ win today. Although he allowed three Washington goals, if he wasn’t on top of his game the score may have been much closer or could’ve even went the Capitals way.
The Penguins certainly have the momentum going their way and are back on the winning track for their next game this coming Tuesday against the New York Islanders. The puck is set to drop at 7:00 pm (est) and will be broadcast on ROOT Sports – Pittsburgh.
