Since their losing streak ended a few games ago, the Florida Panthers have looked much better as a team. It appears head coach Kevin Dineen knew his team quite well when he talked in the middle of a losing streak about how much better they could and would play. That has come to fruition now in a small winning streak and tonight in an impressive come from behind win.
Peter Mueller had a dynamite game several games ago against the Philadelphia Flyers with almost nothing to show for it. He was the bright spot that night and since has gone on a goal streak that has him leading his team to victories. When his line is on the ice, things tend to happen. It’s hard to ignore the impact he is having.
More important even than Mueller’s impact is that of Dineen. He clearly was ready to take the Panthers through the ringer to bring the best out of the players he had, no matter who was injured or unable to play. It took a game or two but they are on the verge of what could be a very important streak of well played games.
After a start to the season that included a bad streak where Panther Brian Campbell says the team began to doubt themselves, Dineen has drawn the best from his men since and has them confident that they can win any hockey game against any NHL opponent. If the Panthers keep listening to Dineen, there is no telling how far they could go.
