To say that the Dallas Stars have struggled on the road this season would be quite the understatement. Coming into this contest against the Colorado Avalanche, they had played five road games. In that amount of time they won only once, have been shut out twice and only scored four goals overall.

The Avalanche meanwhile has been struggling on the power play coming into the game. The loss of a few key goal scorers hurt their chances to right that power play ship tonight. The Avalanche will still have plenty of work to be done on their power play. The Stars however were able to accomplish quite a bit towards righting their struggling road ship. They scored almost as many goals in this one game as they had the previous five road games combined. Also, when the Avalanche were able to pound home a power play goal to tie the game, the Stars bounced right back to grab the lead within a few minutes.

With four of their next five games being on the road, the showing tonight bodes well for the tough games coming the Stars way. A good run over those games will set them up for a nice long home stand as well. Some good things could begin with this game if they can build upon this road offensive showing. All was not perfectly rosy however for the Stars. If their power play would have been even mediocre, this game wouldn’t have been close.
