The Pittsburgh Penguins were defeated by the Montreal Canadiens in a shootout at the Bell Centre in front of a crowd of 21,273 by a score of 3-2.

The Penguins were beaten in overtime at the Verizon Center by the Washington Capitals by a score of 4-3 in front of crowd of 18,277.

The Penguins defeated the New York Islanders by a score of 3-4 at the Mellon Arena in front of a home crowd of 17,075; Kris Letang scored the game-winning goal (GWG).

Pittsburgh’s Alex Kovalev scored a hat trick in back-to-back consecutive games against the Philadelphia Flyers and the New Jersey Devils.

Joe Mullen scored his 1,000th career point against the Florida Panthers; he was the first American-born player to do so in the NHL.

The Penguins won the first of an 11-game unbeaten streak (7-0-4) with a 7-3 win over the Los Angeles Kings (the streak ran from Feb. 7 – Feb. 28).
