Tonight’s second game in the home-and-home series between the Pittsburgh Penguins (8-4-0) and the New Jersey Devils (7-1-3) will be televised on RDS and NBC Sports Network. Face off is set for 7:30 pm (est).  The Penguins will be wearing their third, alternate blue uniforms this evening.

The Penguins will be looking to redeem themselves from yesterday afternoon’s loss to the Devils which shouldn’t be difficult to do if they get back on track with the gameplan they’ve been employing for the previous five wins including more disciplined play.

Defenseman, Kris Letang, was placed on injured reserve (IR) retroactive to last Tuesday which means he can be activated after this coming Tuesday.  Pittsburgh also announced earlier this morning that they’ve recalled defenseman Joe Morrow — not sure what this move is about, but the team made room for Morrow placing Letang on IR.  Report is that head coach, Dan Bylsma, said Morrow is just “insurance” for the banged-up blueline.

The Penguins held an optional skate this morning.  Players taking part were forwards Dustin Jeffrey, Eric Tangradi, Joe Vitale, Craig Adams, Zack Boychuk, Tanner Glass, Tyler Kennedy and Brandon Sutter; defensemen Matt Niskanen, Deryk Engelland, Robert Bortuzzo, Dylan Reese, Brooks Orpik and Simon Despres; and goalies Marc-Andre Fleury and Tomas Vokoun.

The line combinations should remain as they were for yesterday’s game:

FORWARDS: Chris KunitzSidney CrosbyPascal Dupuis, Boychuk-Evgeni MalkinJames Neal, Matt Cooke-Sutter-Kennedy, Glass-Vitale-Adams;

DEFENSEMEN: Orpik-Paul Martin, Despres-Reese, Bortuzzo-Engelland; and the starting goalie in net for the Penguins tonight is Vokoun.

The Devils will again be without forward, Dainius Zubrus, due to an upper body injury; Johan Hedberg will be the starting net minder for the Devils tonight.
