Thomas Vanek's Scoring Being Wasted By Buffalo Sabres

When you think of the best players in the National Hockey League, the usual names pop into your head like Sidney Crosby or one of the Sedin brothers. There is one player who is however having a start for the ages in Thomas Vanek of the Buffalo Sabres. Vanek has 11 goals and 12 assists in just 12 games this year and while that pace can’t continue, it is truly a sight to behold right now.

Vanek has been held off the score sheet only twice all year and has multiple goals three separate times. The problem with Vanek’s production is the fact that Buffalo isn’t winning nearly enough games even with how impressive Vanek has been this year with a 5-7-1 record. That is unacceptable from the other players around him. Vanek is not going to score 100 points this year even if he is on that pace right now.

There is no one better right now in the NHL than Vanek and fans in Buffalo better be enjoying what they are seeing because I can’t think of another player scoring like this in a very long time. It is a one-man show for the Sabres with Vanek and if his teammates would get on the bandwagon, Buffalo could be a team that makes a run at the playoffs this season. It is up to players like Ryan Miller to play better in net so Vanek’s goal scoring doesn’t go into a record book somewhere with nothing else with it. This has been a 12-game stretch for the history books for the Sabres and especially for Vanek.
