Time For Steven Stamkos To Prove He Is Star For Tampa Bay Lightning

The National Hockey League is full of superstars but there is no player that is shining brighter right now than Steven Stamkos. The Tampa Bay Lightning have to feel lucky to have a player of Stamkos’ talent on their roster with some age on their other star Martin St. Louis. Stamkos has 18 points already this season in just 13 games and looks like the next player who can break 100 points each season. Tampa Bay has hit a significant bump in the road lately and a lot of that has to come from the fact that Stamkos has just two points over the last five games.

Stamkos has to get back on the scoreboard if the Lightning are planning to do anything in the postseason because this is a team that depends on Stamkos more than potentially any team leans on a single player in the whole NHL. Stamkos had 60 goals last season and has averaged 94 points a year over the last three full seasons. If Stamkos doesn’t score, Tampa Bay doesn’t win and that is obvious to any team out there.

There is no better player out there right now than Stamkos and he is going to have to step his game back up. There is too much riding on this Lightning team that is averaging nearly four goals a game to be having this much trouble. This has to be a challenge to Stamkos to score scoring again at a rapid pace because St. Louis isn’t going to be around much longer and it would be great to bring home a Stanley Cup for St. Louis as his career winds down.
