Top line on fire for Philadelphia Flyers

Flyers wreck the Islanders

Have I been calling it for Matt Read or what this season? Dude has been on fire lately, and he’s not the only one.

Despite a few dropped games, Ilya Bryzgalov got his first shutout with the Philadelphia Flyers on Monday afternoon against the New York Islanders. The Flyers won 7-0.

Yeah I’ll let that one sink in a little bit.

This awesome win was against the Islanders who struggle just as much, but the Flyers really impressed in this game. Not only did Read amaze us, but so did his linesmates Captain Claude Giroux and Jakub Voracek, who were also on fire.

Read and Voracek assisted Giroux in the first goal and when Read got the second goal of the game, who was there to assist him? Giroux and Voracek of course! Voracek is proving himself to be a solid setup man, he also assisted Brayden Schenn’s goal and was again there on the line with Read for Giroux’s second goal. .

If you’ve been following my blogging here on Rant Sports, you’d know by now that I’m pretty much in love with Matt Read’s playing ability. I’m also a huge Giroux fan, but I haven’t really given my opinion about Voracek as much. Being on this line this season, he’s starting to prove his worth, even more than he did last season.

Voracek has been key on multiple lines, not just with Read and Giroux. He has also been really helpful to Brayden Schenn and Danny Briere, which we saw in Monday’s game. It’s almost as if Voracek can just morph into whatever line he’s on. This really makes sense as he’s the point leader (15 points) and has the most assists (12) on the team. So he may not get too many goals in (three) but he sure as hell knows how to help his teammates do it.

All three of the Voracek-Giroux-Read line truly impressed me in this game, so we can only hope that this time the Flyers are finally turning their game around. I can only hope that if Scott Hartnell comes back soon we get to see the Hartnell-Giroux-Voracek line AKA the Ginger Line.
