Going into New Jersey coming off of a long break, the Washington Capitals hold their 5-9-1 record and are looking to secure a win against the Devils. This will be the first game of a two-game stint against New Jersey, this one being at home in the Verizon Center. The game will take place Thursday night at 7PM and will be broadcasted locally.

This should be a great game with a bit of a playoff atmosphere. Being the first game of the two game set, the Capitals will look to get their win while keeping their legs fresh until Saturday’s game.

For the Devils, they will look to get their offense up and running again as they have been in the middle of a bit of a scoring drought. They have lost two straight games with a combined total of just two goals over that span. Look for their 9th ranked Power Play to be a factor in this game. The Capitals seem to love to give up penalties, and David Clarkson might just be the guy for the job. Of his ten goals, five of them have come on the PP. John Carlson, Mike Green, and the rest of the crew will have to be shut down if they want to succeed.

On the Washington side of the ice, look for Mike Ribeiro to play a deciding role in this one. He has a team high 13 assists and will look to dish the puck more to playmakers in this game. The Capitals are going to have to make every chance count if they want to beat Martin Broduer and his goaltending.
