Pittsburgh Penguins lost to the San Jose Sharks in a shootout at the Mellon Arena by a score of 2-1 in front of a home crowd of 17,132; Penguins goalie, Ty Conklin, earned the #3 star of the game stopping 36 of the 37 shots that he faced from the Sharks through overtime and San Jose’s Jeremy Roenick scored the game-winning shootout goal.
The Penguins were defeated by the Philadelphia Flyers in overtime by a score of 4-3 in front of a crowd of 19,756 at the Wells Fargo Center.
Jim Rutherford records his fourth shutout by stopping all 32 shots from the Chicago Blackhawks.
Greg Polis was stopped by St. Louis Blues goalie, Ernie Wakely, on an unsuccessful attempt at a penalty shot.
Pittsburgh Hornets‘ Bobby Walton (with 2 G, 6 A) and Bob Gracie (with 3 G, 5 A) set an AHL record for most points in a game with eight each.
The Hornets lost at home to the Providence Reds by a score of 4-3.
