If there is a team that is even close to being as hot as the Chicago Blackhawks, the Washington Capitals have to be in consideration. Winning four of their last five games, Washington is back on track and ready to keep rolling, Their next opponent will be the Florida Panthers as they face off in a crucial Southeast division match up. This game on March 7th will take place in Washington at the Verizon Center. Start time will be 7:00PM and will be broad casted locally in surrounding Washington areas.
The Capitals are coming off of their most impressive performance of the season. They battled the Boston Bruins at home and overcame a 3-0 deficit in the first period to take the game into overtime and give them a chance to win their 9th game of the season. 37 seconds into overtime, Eric Fehr converted successfully on that opportunity. Falling to the ice between two defenders, he put a shot top-shelf shot into the net that sent the Verizon Center into a frenzy.
This game against the Panthers, they will look to do the same thing. The offense is certain to stay on track starting with the player to look for the most this game: Troy Brouwer.
Brouwer is tied for the Capitals lead for goals with nine alongside Alex Ovechkin, and even though it hasn’t been much, he has had success against the Panthers. In his two games this year against Florida, he has netted three goals, one of them bring on the Power Play. Look for that to be very profitable as well. The Capitals are 4th in the league when it comes to a man-advantage and Florida is known to take unacceptable penalties. I expect Troy Brouwer to be a big part of the game in every facet.
