NHL New York Rangers

Big Game Ahead For Playoff Hopes Of New York Rangers

Anthony Gruppuso-USA TODAY Sports

The New York Rangers have been in a slump over the last week, with three straight losses before a 2-1 victory on Monday.

The Rangers face a situation where they have to play back-to-back games, and have a huge matchup on Tuesday night against the free falling New Jersey Devils, who are just two points ahead of the Rangers for the final playoff spot. I think this is a chance for the Rangers to get ahead of the Devils before New Jersey gets all their best players back into the lineup.

The Devils are still without Martin Brodeur, and have struggled without him in goal. It has been an impressive month of March for Rick Nash in New York and while he hasn’t scored in the last four games, he still has nine points in nine games this month. Nash is going to be need to pick back up his scoring pace from earlier in the month, and this game would be the perfect chance to do that.

This shortened NHL season is coming down to the final 20 games for the Rangers and being just two points out of the playoffs. They will need to win on the road, which has been easier said than done, but the fact is that New York needs this win.

There are not many more chances for the Rangers to get back into the playoff chase and have themselves in playoff positions. This is a game that all NHL fans need to be watching on Tuesday night.
