New Jersey Devils Must Be Welcoming Return Of Martin Brodeur

It has been a rough last few weeks for the New Jersey Devils, especially without Martin Brodeur in the lineup. The Devils activated Brodeur off injured reserve on Tuesday and it appears that he could be ready to go sooner than later.

That has to be a good sign for the Devils, who lost again on Tuesday and are slipping closer and closer to the .500 mark. The Devils need to make sure they don’t fall too far, or the playoff race will pass them by.

Brodeur is the key to the puzzle for the problems with the Devils. I’m not sure there is any other goaltender around the NHL who is better. New Jersey needs Brodeur to play in almost every game the rest of the way now just so the team has a decent chance of making a run in the playoffs. New Jersey is 13-11-6 going into play on Thursday night, and their goals against average is now in the middle of the NHL standings.

However, there is still hope for New Jersey, since the team is tied with three others for sixth place in the Eastern Conference. The return of Brodeur should be able to change up the fortunes for the team, which will be badly needed at this point in time.

The only other problem that the team has is that the Devils have played one more game than those other three teams, who could all win and be ahead of New Jersey. The next week is now very important for the Devils, and they need to get Brodeur back to mid-season form quickly.
