Winnipeg Jets Get Important Victory For Playoff Future

Ed Mulholland-USA TODAY Sports

The 2013 NHL season has been one filled with a lot of excitement for the Winnipeg Jets. Winnipeg gained a measure of confidence with a 3-1 win on Tuesday night over the Boston Bruins. The Jets scored all three goals in the third period for the win, and I really am starting to buy into the chance that the Jets can find a way to win their division.

Winnipeg is leading the Southeast Division right now and if they can hold on to that spot, there is a chance that the Jets could get all the way to the conference finals.

Winnipeg has been a solid team for the last four seasons, being near or just above the .500 mark in each of those seasons. This season has seen a different mentality with this Jets team, though.

You can point at Andrew Ladd’s scoring or the emergence of Evander Kane or Blake Wheeler, who scored twice on Tuesday. There appears to be a different hero with this team every night right now, and you can’t discount a team that spreads the wealth in goals.

I believe Winnipeg will win the division at the end and will make a run at teams like the Bruins. Ladd is having the year of his life and while the goaltending hasn’t been top-notch, it has been enough to get things done. There are only 18 games left for the Jets this season, but the outcome is still undecided.
