The Vancouver Canucks had been suffering from a terrible slump with Roberto Luongo in net over the last couple weeks and have lost his last two starts. Vancouver decided to go back to Cory Schneider over their last two contests and have now won both of those games. The Canucks would be smart to just go with Schneider for the rest of the season.
I have never been a fan of teams splitting starts between goalies equally. It was time for one of those two to step up and it looks like it is going to be Schneider, who has allowed only three goals over the last two wins for the Canucks and with some important games coming up soon, Vancouver must keep Schneider in goal.
Vancouver is tied for first place in the Northwest Division right now and that elusive No. 3 seed is going to be in play for the rest of the year. The Canucks are going to really want that seed so they don’t have to hit the road right away in the playoffs.
I believe it is going to be a very interesting postseason with how tightly the teams are packed in the Western Conference, and having home ice will be one of the most important things. I also think there are going to be a bunch of upsets along the way as well, so having one great goaltender may be the key to not getting upset. I hope the Canucks are thinking clearly and stick with Schneider.
