Often times after the after the Toronto Maple Leafs secure a victory, as reporters we wonder about how many points or goals did Nazem Kadri have  in the game? Lately it seems like the 22 year old Kadri has been making headlines in Toronto for shooting and scoring. There is no doubting the talent of Kadri. He’s been a huge catalyst for the Maple Leafs as far as staying in the playoff picture goes. However, he is not the only goal scorer the Leafs have.

Joffrey Lupul has also had great success on the ice. Lupul’s accuracy to find the back of the net has given Toronto a chance to win every game he has  started in. That trend continued on Tuesday night when the Florida Panthers came to town.  If Kadri is the firecracker for Toronto, then Lupul is the spark that lights the firecracker. There is no secret formula; good players make great players even better.

Lupul’s God given ability to score goals lifted Toronto past the Panthers Tuesday night.  No. 19 scored a goal in the second period and he also scored the game winner in the third.   Sportsnet’s hockey panel questioned what impact Lupul would have after he came back from a broken arm. The injury that saw him miss 27 days,  the injury occurred in a game against the Pittsburgh Penguins back on January 23 of this year.

Lupul was in the way of a Dion Phanuef shot.  The arm injury for the blue and white assistant captain doesn’t seem to be a factor.  If Lupul can continue to be healthy for the remainder of the season, it can only mean good things for the Maple Leafs.
