NHL Preview: Washington Capitals Vs. Buffalo Sabres

Geoff Burke-USA TODAY Sports

The Washington Capitals have won three out of their last four games. They are looking to keep their impressive streak and playoff hopes alive against a rough and powerful Buffalo Sabres team. Adam Oates’ team will have to travel on the road, but they are used to it. Their last stretch of games has been away from the Verizon Center and this team is very used to playing away from their home crowd. The game will be take place at 7:00 and will be broadcasted in surrounding Washington areas.

It is going to take a huge run for the Caps to make a streak during this end of the season, and I expect them to continue their fiery run and beat the Sabres. Washington has been on the verge of falling out of the big race, but they have since gained ground and you can tell that the team has earned a new sense of confidence.

A Capitals’ player to watch for in this game has to be Joel Ward. I believe Ward has the potential to shine in this game because he has proven to be a leader. He may not be the guy with the most talent on the ice, but he has been glue keeping this team together who has always come up big in important games like the ones upcoming.

Braden Holtby should get the nod in net for this one, and that is a very great option for the team. Holtby beat the Sabres in their previous matchup, and he should look to keep his good play going in Saturday’s game.
