Nashville Predators Need To Look Ahead To Next Season

It has been a struggle all season for the Nashville Predators to score goals. It happened again on Saturday night when the team lost 1-0 in overtime. It’s a problem that has to be very troubling, as the team’s chances for the playoffs slip away more each day and seem more distant with each shutout.

The team’s leading scorer, Martin Erat, has just four goals on the season to go with his 17 assists. This is a season where your leading scorer can’t have just 21 points through 34 games. Nashville may now need to focus on making some trades that improve the team for next season instead of going for it this year. If trades are being discussed by the team at this point, it still wont help the Predators find a way to make the playoffs right now.

It is a very tight group of teams in the Western Conference, and while Nashville could find a way to sneak into the playoffs behind their strong goaltending only, I don’t think it is worth it. This is a Nashville team that needs to look ahead to next season and fixing their scoring problems before then. You can’t win very many games when you score just once or don’t score at all. Nashville needs a better game plan before next season begins.
