Yesterday, I wrote an article about defenseman Robyn Regehr and speculated why it might be a good idea for the Los Angeles Kings to add him to bolster their struggling blue-line. Apparently, I wasn’t the only one who thought it was a good idea.
Hours after my article was published, Jim Matheson of the Edmonton Journal wrote a piece touching on a few subjects, including Robyn Regehr. Here’s what he had to say:
Take this to the bank: former Flames defenceman Robyn Regehr, now with the Buffalo Sabres, will be a King at the trade deadline as a third blue-line pairing player.
That’s right. Matheson says you can “take it to the bank.” Pretty strong words from Jim, he seems confident.
Acquiring Regehr would make sense for the Kings, who have seemed to found their scoring touch but struggled a bit throughout the year on the defensive side of things. Coach Darryl Sutter and Robyn Regehr would once again be reunited since their time with the Calgary Flames. The move would round out the top six.
The question now is, how much is Robyn Regehr worth? What is it going to take for the Kings to pry him away from the Buffalo Sabres?
If Douglas Murray fetched two second round picks, it could prove costly for the Kings.
