A day after the Ottawa Senators dealt Ben Bishop, they received tremendous news regarding Craig Anderson‘s ankle injury. It seems like forever since Anderson went down Feb. 21, and it’s at the appropriate time for him to return.
What was first thought to be a 2-4 week sidelining, turned out to be much longer than that, with just over five weeks since the injury. Anderson has been on the ice, and he is feeling good. He has been in regular activity and looks ready to tend the net in their next game Friday evening.
Even though Ottawa has been solid in the absence of Anderson, it’s always good to see a goalie with his caliber return to the lineup. Anderson has arguably been the backbone of Ottawa’s success, and it’s always hard to be solid in the last month of the regular season. Too many teams play spoiler down the stretch, and Ottawa needs to be solid going into the playoffs in May.
Anderson’s return will greatly influence Ottawa’s record. Right now he sits atop the NHL stats at Goals Against Average and Save Percentage.
The Senators may be finally reaching the light at the end of the tunnel. Things are looking up for them. With a solid trade and now Anderson returning, this is a sign that Ottawa could possibly do some damage in the upcoming weeks. This weekend could be a plus for Ottawa. Anderson seems ready to return and get back to where he left off, and potentially lead Ottawa to a successful playoff run.
