Washington Capitals Find Key Game Ahead

It has been a very different Washington Capitals team lately as the club has gone from the depths of the Eastern Conference standings to the top of the Southeast Division. Washington has won four straight games and now faces a test on Tuesday night that will show how far the team has come this year. The Capitals will hit the road to face the Montreal Canadiens, who have 13 points more than Washington.

The Capitals need to prove a point in this game, and that would come with a victory on the road. Alex Ovechkin has come to life with ten points in his last five games including eight goals. It is a crazy scoring streak for him as he has turned it up during the final month of the season. I wouldn’t want to face Washington right now with how hot they are. The Capitals are going to be stuck with that No. 3 seed because of that bad start, but being at home to start the playoffs will only benefit this team.

The game against Montreal has to be one where the Capitals show that they can play with the best teams in the NHL. The Canadiens have lost just eight times all season and have the second seed presently in the Eastern Conference. The Capitals have to show that they can play with Montreal if the two teams were to see each other in the playoffs. I would think another big night will be coming from Ovechkin, and that may mean another two goals. This is a very important game for playoff reasons for the Capitals.
