To say that Jussi Jokinen was a good acquisition for the Pittsburgh Penguins is quite an understatement.
In the very first game Jokinen played with the Penguins in a black and vegas gold uniform, he not only scored a goal, but he scored the only goal of the game as well as the game-winning shootout goal against the New York Rangers. Since then, Jokinen has played in two more games as a Penguin and already has a total of five points with three goals and two assists and a plus/minus of +4. That is just slightly less than half of the stats he notched as a Carolina Hurricane with whom he played 33 games and had a total of 11 points (six goals, five assists; -8).
This was definitely a win-win situation for both parties involved – Jokinen and the Penguins. Not only has he already recorded about half of what he had with the Hurricanes (in about a quarter of the time he did it with Carolina), but he’s also had a point in each of the games he’s played so far with the Penguins. With only seven games left in the regular season and the playoffs ahead, it looks like Jokinen is only getting started and has already proven he was more than worth it for the Penguins.
