The Pittsburgh Penguins were defeated by the Buffalo Sabres in Game 5 of Round 2 of the Stanley Cup playoffs in overtime by a score of 3-2 at the HSBC Arena in front of a crowd of 18,690 and Stu Barnes scored the game-winning goal (GWG); the Penguins go on to win the series in seven games and move on to the New Jersey Devils in Round 3.

1996
The Penguins were beaten by the New York Rangers by a score of 6-3 in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals in front of a crowd of 17,181; the Penguins went on to beat the Rangers in five games and then to face the Florida Panthers.

1992
The Rangers defeated the Penguins by a score of 4-2 in Game 2 of Round 2 in front of a crowd of 17,783; the Penguins went on to beat the Rangers in six games to face the Boston Bruins in Round 3.
